Tufte, states that “the more elaborate the hierarchy, the greater the loss of explanatory resolution, as the container dominates the thing contained” (Tufte, 2011, 16). I understand this point because last semester when creating a powerpoint for my research a lot of the overall message was contained to a few words. These words were not able to grasp the complexity of my research or understanding. This in part has to with my own personnel vocabulary and part to how powerpoint is set up.

Tufte also states that bullet lists create the appearance of well-organized thought they not express the reality of the day-to-day practice. This statement I do not believe is true. Due to advances in technology and writing the way individuals process is changing. In my opinion, the thought process appears to appear in bullet point thought in appreciated sentence forms. Now, maybe I am misunderstanding Tufte’s definition of a sentence. The idea doesn’t to completely relate to changing times.
